Eighty3

Eighty3
83 Madison Avenue
Memphis, TN 38103

We go out to eat once a month at a "fancy" place in Memphis.  This time we visited eighty3 on Madison.

It has a small quaint atmosphere.

I liked the artwork on the wall.  It reminded me of graffiti.

First of all, our waiter was very helpful and explained everything to us and offered us great recommendations.  We decided to share everything, so that we could taste as much as possible.

We started with a tuna wonton.  The tuna was perfectly seasoned with a nice spice to it.

We also had the chicken fried bacon.

The bacon had been batter fried.  It was delicious!!

We also had a cup of gumbo.  This was a nice, thick gumbo, that was full of flavor.

Our first entree was melt in your mouth pot roast with mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts!  Seriously, it was so tender.

We also had the chicken and waffles.  So... they take the waffle batter and add their macaroni and cheese INTO the batter.  Not separate!  Then they had nice chicken breasts on top.  Then atop everything was more cheese!  This was so good!

In the end, we had deep fried oreos.  Yes, they are as good as they sound.

So.. this restaurant takes southern favorites and makes them even more interesting.  This is one of my new favorite restaurants!!
